Your Horoscope for November 12, 2003
IF WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH IS YOUR BIRTHDAY

Your values, both personal and professional, will be tested this year. What you thought you believed in, what you thought was important, will at various times come under pressure, and that pressure is the universe's way of telling you that it is time to look at life from a more expansive point of view. Don't be afraid - you'll like what you see.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY
Regardless of outside influences, you have tons of get-up-and-go this year. The best luck is had when you channel your vigor into your career in the next two weeks. Public opinion shifts in your favor come December; people accept and encourage what had seemed like a long shot. Love blossoms with Aries and Aquarius. Give yourself the kind of education you've always wanted this year: travel. In May, there is much to learn and enjoy in exotic locales.
Revolutionary self-discoveries take place during your journey, giving you a new attitude about love and money. Lucky numbers this year are 10, 13, 25, 36 and 55.

as 40 creeps up I'm still experiencing self indulgent mood swings most likely induced by drinking a bottle of cheap red wine....
for the past ten years or so I've be been kind of obsessed with killing myself- egomaniacal self indulgent, derivative... so much like an 80's performance piece that I'll probably never even attempt it... (unlike my aunt who went splat from the top of a building or my uncle who's claim to fame is like a zillion failed attempts) so tonight I decide to do a "suicide" search to cheer myself up and where do I find myself? @ # 5 google site for "suicide" (bear in mind... out of 6 million results ) ... suicide girls.com
suddenly I'm feeling quite alive....

Yesterday was a logistical nightmare. We parked the Volvo near Enterprise Rent a Car in Los Feliz expecting to get another car immediately but the office was closed (Saturday hours.) We had appointments to look at apartments for Mr. Miller- did I mention that the Church Of Scientology recently bought his apartment building and that he has to move by February? In addition there's been a mass transit strike in LA for over a month so without a car we're both fucked for the weekend. (BTW -Mr. Miller doesn't drive so we only have one car.) Budget had nothing but $80 a day SUVs until Sunday. Uhaul rents pick-up trucks for a cheap day rate but the mileage charge is close to a dollar a mile. All the local Hertz offices were closed. We consider getting a cab at the Vons across the street from the Uhaul but the supermarket strike is still going on and neither of us will cross a picket line. So we hit Sunset Blvd. walking west, stopping at a phone kiosk to look up car rental places in the yellow pages and to get a cab. We find some little rental place on Cahuenga, wait 45 minutes for a cab to get us there and then an hour in front of the car rental shop for the guy to get back from errand. If you don't know me I'm one of the most impatient people on the face of the planet and although standing in a tweaker crack head strip mall (Cahuenga & Yucca) amused me for about five minutes I was really pissed off when the shitty rental place declined my credit car (my credit line $10. shy of the deposit) At least I'm getting some muscle tone walking all over LA….
8 November
My old Volvo has been acting up again- the engine is losing power and it feels like it's dying. It's stalling in traffic and I'm afraid to drive it. I've taken the car to my mechanic twice this week and this morning I brought it to the mechanic of Mr. Jones for a second opinion. The second opinion is the same as the first- get another car. Or more specifically- "don't put any more money into this car- there's too much wrong with it." I told the mechanic that I will drive it until it dies -not realizing of course that today would be its last day on the road. I'm really sad about losing my car and don't feel like expending the time and energy to look for a new one.

Mr. Miller and I have been talking about going to Vegas for a few days but have decided to take a quick Trip to Ventura instead. Neither of us wants to leave Hans here with a dog sitter and we know that we'll miss him if he's not with us. Besides, Hans loves the beach and Vegas doesn't seem the same without Sigfried and Roy?

WILD STYLE THE MOVIE

5 November
I managed to snap this pic of the Café Tropical before the graffiti got painted over. Thanks to the rain I was able to get this pic because the wall was too wet to paint with a brush. You see there is fresh graffiti on this wall nearly every day. And every day one of the Tropical employees paints over the tags because they look like shit and have some gang significance which I'm not quite sure of because I'm like a yuppie or something. I wouldn't give a fuck except I hate all the guns that go along with the tags.

Hey I lived through the early 80's in NYC when beautiful Graffiti was a part of every day life. Riding the subway rocked back in the day.... and all the tags were like cool. And when I young and idealistic and prior to having my mind twisted by art school, I was so inspired by that Whitney Biennial ('84?) that so much of the art world seemed to hate. (i guess they hate them all eh?)

Back to the Here and Now: So my neighbor told me that the police told her that there is a turf war happening in Silver Lake between the Silver Lake 13 and the 18th Street Gang. The 18th Street gang are trying to take over here because of curfews/injunctions around their McArthur Park Alvarado turf or somewhere. I was also told that the cops consider Silver Lake to be the "Beverly Hills" of the Rampart Division. Wow so here I am in Beverly Hills hitting the ground overtime I hear I gunfire right outside my bedroom window. Ironically enough the only time I have been shot at - at close range was in Beverly Hills. And guess what ? They missed. Ha ha You'll have to wait for me to upload my 1999 journal (250 pages) to get all of those details.

Read more about the guns in my hood: Thanks to the author & the LA Weekly for making our neighborhood situation public. Now the LAPD are forced to address the issue. BTW- I'm a renter who moved here pre-gentrification and I'm not at all happy about the steep increase in rents/property values as many of my friends are being forced out of their apartments and can no longer afford to live here. Perhaps I am next. As per increase in violence due to gentrification? No way. It used to be a lot worse here but no one seemed to care when the neighborhood was composed primarily of poor & working class families and starving artist types.

BORN BLONDE

Approaching the big 4-0 and back to my messy natural haircolor

31 October
It's been raining a lot here in LA which is great for the fires. Without the rains who knows what could have happened to Southern California- perhaps we'd all be burnt to a crisp. Gee and my mother always told me that California was going to fall into the ocean ... death by drowning, death by smoke inhalation or death by fire - who knows what's worse. Probably death by cigarettes as my ashtray overflows...So I was in Santa Clarita today and was quite relieved to see smoldering hills rather than giant flames. It's really quite amazing to look at burnt hills and see the exact spot where the fire fighters stopped the fire. I was on the 5 freeway bottlenecking with the rest of the geeks mesmerized by those hills completely decimated save for a small clump of trees near some homes and the freeway. Like a whole hill was burnt and then there was green. The homes had been saved. Quite an amazing task. Now we have our own heros here in the "left coast"...

After a random telephone conversation with Mr. Jones I realized that I'm actually more paranoid about my bookmarks than about anything that's on my hard drive. I have this fear that my computer will be seized and that I will be arrested. All of this stems from my knowledge that the US gov't is monitoring my website. Although my paranoia subsided a bit when I discovered that one individual from the military was merely looking for "underground comics," I've still decided to wipe out my bookmarks and start over. Over course upon closer scrutiny I've realized that my bookmarks are about as harmless as a search for underground comics ...

Calling Attention to the Artifice...

Some friends have noticed that I haven't been updating my pages lately. I realize that in addition to feeling too lazy or preoccupied to update my blog I've also been too lazy to return emails, phone calls or to go out socially anywhere that requires making phone calls, making plans, driving west of LaBrea or wearing clean clothes. Yes I have not done laundry since the last time I updated my pages..... Yes I'm feeling extremely self conscious about my natural hair color tinged with gray and have vowed to lay low until I can afford another visit to my trendy neighborhood hair salon. I've developed a new found love of BBC America, Turner Classic Movies, IFC, HBO and the Sundance Channel... One might say that my behavior is symptomatic of depression. I would argue that since I have not been working my "day job" I do not require my usual voyeuristic perversions. I'm focused on finishing projects, staying at home & limiting my surfing. However as I am returning to day labor this week I have decided to go back and fill in all the blank entries. I'm even considering learning PHP. Stay tuned for further details....

Happening on the 21st of October @ the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood- My favorite LA Film event: Attack of the 50 FT Reels!!

sigmund freud toy
Sigmund Freud Presents:
"A Young Girl's Diary
"

I haven't missed this annual Super-8 extravaganza yet and I'm happy to be included in this year's line-up. Norwood Cheek masterminds and MC's the event- You all know Norwood even if you think you don't - he's actually a kind of low key and shy genius workaholic - I have secretly seen him on a major national Television commercial and his name appears in the music credits of at least one blockbuster Hollywood movie and he's a member of a very hot local band .....

See you at the Egyptian- thanks to Fabulous Silver Lake Celeb DJ Prickle who stars in my little Super-8 movie and Theresa Gehri who had the courage to do the voice-over and didn't have to "fake" the German accent and of course to Daddy Freud for publishing the text written by some insipid little brat in the early 1900's...

From cousin Val:
Hey Margie!
How are you? I thought I'd let you know that Karen Schnibbe is in Germany, met up with this Peter Schnibbe who took her to a Yardbirds concert in Bremen and she is now working on the tour in merchandising!
All due to your email!
Karen says her mother died suddenly. I don't know
when or how.
Not sure how long Karen plans to be in Germany.
I had a baby girl: Caroline Betsy, August 17. She's
cute as a button!
How is your life going?
Miss you! Love,s

Mr. Miller's Birthday

Your Horoscope for October 5, 2003
IF SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5TH IS YOUR BIRTHDAY

What a difference a year makes! If you look back over the previous 12 months, you will be amazed at how far you have come. You will also realize that your priorities are different and many more things are possible. Make the next 12 months a time when you put your new powers to the test. A year from now you will look back and amaze yourself all over again.

(i suspect that my cousin has also been stalked on the Lower East Side of NYC:

"its hard to top 'the stalker loved her the best he knew how.' 'motherplug' is a runner-up, though.

i am so glad you found me. i am living on mott st. across from the church. orson (the pug) and i amuse ourselves by watching the wedding parties and rating the bridesmaids' gowns."

wow. more soon.

jesssica

.... I'm also feeling homesick for Arthur Ave... perhaps I can buy a ticket for the LA Version of Tony & Tina's wedding (or was show over in the 80's?) .... all we have in my neighborhood is the Fountain @ Griffith Park Blvd & Riverside for gown watching..........
(BTW- I found my cousin Jessica on Friendster- I suggest that you look for your all your "hip-ster" old friends there- if you can't find them (or their "fakester" persona) then you should drop them immediately because they're like not you know "with it" ......
... so I'm thinking that I should really write back to Jessica because it's been 2 weeks and not responding by business days is totally anti-netiquette but ... I just drank a bottle of wine and I've always gotten myself in trouble responding to emails while tipsy....

more BTW- Lowell says(sic) : a computer should come with a Breathalizer.......... and I always thought all I needed was spell check and forty levels of "undo" .......

The Gateway Arch not only symbolizes the gateway to the West, but also commemorates the acquisition of the Louisiana Territory. The Arch is constructed of double walls filled with steel-reinforced concrete and steel stiffners and stands 630 feet
tall.
Lewis & Clark & the St. Louis Arch

BTW-in 1990 Margie, Peter Caine & a guy called Bob were nearly arrested for drunken disorderly conduct at 4am at the base of the St. Louis Arch ..... From Margie: " I just wanted to touch it"

Hilary sends a shout out from NYC along with pics of her new dachshund friends- oh yeah and her BF Tom too. I have not shown these pics to Hans as he would be extremely upset to know that his unconditional weiner dog love has been usurped by a couple of Brooklyn bitches......After escaping the island (Long Island if you don't know) Hans made a pit stop in Queens before hooking up with me on the

Lower East Side and finally moved it on up to Gramercy Park to a security pad with a doorman. If you don't get it yet - to Hans Brooklyn is... well you know just one of those other boroughs..........So you see Hilary was the first biological female that Hans fell in love with -Prior to Hilary, Hans had always preferred the company of boys and trannies and the only 2 women he'd ever trusted were his mother and Naomi of course..........
