Feces are the child's first gift, the sacrifice of his affection, a portion of his own body which he is ready to part with, but only for the sake of someone he loves.

Dr. Hans: Can you tell me a little bit about this video?

Margie: A Big Girl learns to use the potty. Because he/she cannot reach the toilet she uses a stack of seminal texts as a step stool. I didn't have a formal potty so we used a big cooking pot on top of the toilet instead. The voice-over on this video is from a little picture book that teaches children about toilet training. When the Big Girl succeeds in her toilet training her parents are very happy.

Dr. Hans: Why did you make this video? How did you become interested in toilet training?

Margie: Well doctor, you should know more than anyone that I'm obsessed with transgression. But if you're looking for further insight into my twisted head here's some food for thought:

Firstly, when I was a kid there was a story in my family about my older sister who as a small child had "painted" a bookshelf full of encyclopedias with a gooey "gift" from her diaper. I such a well behaved child and she was a real rebel.

As a senior in high school I was in a sociology class where I had an assignment to interview various women in my family about how they toilet trained their kids. I remembered that these interviews were supposed to tell us something very important about our culture but we were never told exactly what that was.

Finally, as an adult when I was working in a sado-masochistic house of fantasy, I used to get paid a bunch of cash to provide certain "gifts" for wealthy clients. I knew then for sure how important proper toilet training must be if these old guys still couldn't get over it. I was glad to help them find some relief for their troubles.
